My name is Tanjhid Choudhury and I come from Astoria in northern Queens. I’m adamant about animation and design and go out of my way to engage in both when I can. I like to learn about things and try to take a D.I.Y. approach to things. I enjoy cooking. sewing, skating, and any activities that result in the creation of something.
My project is titled Childhood Indulgence and it encourages people to play with toys that they’d normally only play with as little kids. My target audience is children and adults alike and I’d want both to give in to their childhood desire to play. I’ve made 3 brightly colored boxes to act as containers for toys and I placed them on the bench in my 10x10 space. In front of the bench I placed a brightly colored mat for people to play with the toys on. The bright colors were to attract attention and to stand out against the earthy tones of the park. The mat is supposed to provide a playspace more comfortable than concrete and it is equally colorful. My overall goal is to help people like adults relieve stress and go back to a time in their lives where there weren’t any pressures pushing down on them and to help people like kids get used to a communal system of toys and get used to sharing.

Eyebeam DDC Day 4 was a visit to the Brooklyn Grange in Long Island City. The Grange is a rooftop for-profit farm and our guide Gwen showed us around to the many workings of the farm. They laid a special mat onto the roof to protect it from the plants and to give the plants a way to store moisture. The Grange also kept bees to help pollinate the plants on the farm as well as to collect honey from along with some novelty chickens that laid eggs 6 days of the week. We were shown around what crops they were growing and learned how pollution could easily get into our food and how the Grange prevented this from happening. It was a fun day overall and definitely worth the trip.
Currently I’m planning on making my 10x10 space around the park by the intersection of 22 St and 10 Ave. The benches would make a good resting place and a good place to sit behind a counter. The ground near the benches is ideal for chalk drawings and to give my space more flair. In my space I would hope to make either a playroom or a large sewing room. The playroom would have a playmat and bins of toys like LEGO to encourage audience participation. The sewing room would use obstacles that are around to make impromptu spools of thread and it would hold fabric with a sewing machine outlined by measuring and cutting tools. I’ve also had the idea of making an animation studio and a grandiose kitchen but I’ve yet to elaborate on those ideas.

I am Tanjhid Choudhury, a student of Stuyvesant High School, and I plan on becoming an architect or an animator. I love animation and try to invest myself in it as much as possible. I design a lot, am an avid skater, and I’m a self-proclaimed cook.
I am here because I love animation, design, and new horizons and I expect DDC to nurture my interests as well as provide me an environment to explore new concepts amongst peers. The DDC description entailed exploring neighborhoods and I would love to learn about the the neighborhoods in the city I live in.
I am interested in animation, design, building, cooking, sewing, skating, coding, and learning about new techniques and mediums. I try to overlap my interests as much as I can but some interests prove to be difficult to overlap.
